Seneca Biopharma, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNCA) was founded in 1996 and was formerly known as Neuralstem, Inc. Seneca Biopharma is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapeutics for neurological disorders with significant unmet medical needs. The company currently has two investigational new drug candidates in development:NSI-189 is a small molecule drug in the clinical stage for the treatment of major depressive disorder and in the preclinical stage for the treatment of Angelman syndrome, radiation-induced cognitive impairment, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and stroke. NSI-566 is a stem cell therapy being tested for its efficacy in treating paralysis resulting from stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and chronic spinal cord injury (cSCI).
