Akari Therapeutics

Akari Therapeutics is a biotechnology company developing advanced therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Nomacopan, which is under research by Akari, is a bispecific recombinant inhibitor of complement C5 activation and leukotriene B4 (LTB4) activity. Akari's pipeline includes a Phase 3 clinical trial program investigating nomacopan for the treatment of severe pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (HSCT-TMA). Nomacopan for the treatment of pediatric HSCT-TMA has received orphan drug, fast track, and rare pediatric disease designations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as orphan drug designation from the European Commission for HSCT treatment. Akari’s pipeline also includes a clinical program developing nomacopan for adult HSCT-TMA and preclinical studies of long-acting PAS-nomacopan for geographic atrophy (GA).
