Sermonix Pharmaceuticals is a privately held biopharmaceutical company based in Ohio, focused on the development, approval, and commercialization of targeted oncology products. Sermonix’s lead candidate is oral Lasofoxifene. Lasofoxifene is currently being investigated in Phase 2 trials and is considered a potent third-generation selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) (also referred to as an estrogen agonist/antagonist) with high affinity for estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1). Previous clinical development programs have indicated potential benefits for breast, bone, and vaginal tissues. Sermonix is currently concentrating its research on lasofoxifene for the treatment of advanced breast cancer, particularly in patients with locally advanced or metastatic estrogen receptor-positive (ER+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer harboring ESR1 mutations.
