The company was formerly known as Xuzhou Biochemical Pharmaceutical Factory, established in 1981; it was restructured into Xuzhou Wanbang Biochemical Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 1998; changed its name to Jiangsu Wanbang Biochemical Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 2001; joined Fosun Pharma in 2004; and was upgraded to Jiangsu Wanbang Biochemical Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. in 2017.Wanbang Pharma has established a domestically leading R&D and production base for prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell-based genetic engineering drugs. It ranks among the top in China in the R&D of recombinant protein drugs, such as recombinant human insulin and its analogs, and recombinant human erythropoietin. Through equity participation, the company has established a small-molecule innovative drug R&D laboratory in San Francisco, USA. It also holds a leading position in the industry for high-difficulty small-molecule generic drugs. The company invests approximately 10% of its annual sales revenue in new product R&D. It boasts a dedicated R&D team of nearly 300 employees, more than 52% of whom hold advanced degrees (master’s or doctoral). The company files over 40 national patent applications annually and launches several new products each year.
