ATRO Medical B.V., founded in 2016, is an innovative medical device company. The first product under development is the Trammpolin® meniscus prosthesis. The meniscus is a crucial shock absorber in the knee joint. Meniscal injuries and wear are significant causes of knee osteoarthritis. Trammpolin® is designed to replace damaged menisci, acting as an articular spacer to restore the shock-absorbing function of the meniscus. With the growing number of patients experiencing knee pain due to meniscectomy, the company is addressing a substantial unmet medical need. These patients often progress to osteoarthritis, leading to pain and reduced mobility. Current treatment options for these patients are limited and have evident shortcomings. The Trammpolin® meniscus prosthesis aims to provide a cost-effective solution for meniscus replacement, bridging the gap between surgical repair of meniscal tears and total knee replacement therapies.
