LoveFilm is a UK-based DVD mailing and streaming video-on-demand provider, operating in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Germany. By 2011, after being acquired by Amazon.com, the service had reached 2 million users. The company also claimed that across five countries, more than 70,000 films were rented per month, along with over 4 million DVDs, Blu-rays, or games. Through a series of acquisitions, LoveFilm quickly became a leading online DVD rental and streaming service provider in the UK and Europe.While offering postal services, the company also provided download services, though this service was discontinued on February 23, 2009. The company also launched its "Watch Online" service, offering over 4,700 films as part of its subscription service. This online viewing service was free, with users able to choose between unlimited monthly rental plans or unlimited streaming accounts.LoveFilm ceased operations on July 10, 2012.
