Silk Road Medical is a company that develops and manufactures minimally invasive medical devices aimed at improving the treatment of carotid artery disease through proprietary transcarotid therapies. The company has a new approach to treating carotid artery disease, known as TransCarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR), which it seeks to establish as the standard of care. TCAR relies on two novel concepts – minimally invasive direct access to the carotid artery in the neck and high-speed blood flow reversal to protect the brain during surgery – combining innovative endovascular techniques with fundamental surgical principles.
