EZSCAN uses electrochemical principles to test the skin's electrical response, measuring the sweat glands' ability to release chloride ions under electrochemical activation, and detecting the smallest autonomic sympathetic nerves in the human periphery, namely sudomotor nerve function. Based on the relationship between peripheral neuropathy, especially autonomic neuropathy, and the onset and progression of type 2 diabetes, EZSCAN establishes a mathematical model according to the correlation between detected sudomotor nerve function and insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance, and type 2 diabetes, assessing the early onset risk of type 2 diabetes.
