TransMedics

TransMedics, headquartered in Andover, Massachusetts, is a medical device company established in 1998. It is dedicated to meeting the demand for better and more effective organ transplantation technologies. The company has developed the first commercially available portable warm blood perfusion system, which enables a new type of organ transplant known as living organ transplantation. This technology, called the Organ Care System (OCS), is designed to keep organs in a warm and viable state outside the body during the transfer from donor to recipient. The OCS may increase the availability of organs and improve outcomes for the growing number of end-stage organ failure patients in need of transplants, bridging the gap between the number of available organs and the number of recipients awaiting transplantation.
