Basic Information

The Biostatistics Center (BSC) of the Milken Institute School of Public Health (SPH) at George Washington University (GWU) was established in 1972 and has a 46-year history of leadership in transforming clinical trials and biostatistics methodology research. Research conducted by the BSC has been cited in reports to the U.S. President and Congress as referenced in White House reports, featured in TIME Magazine's "Medical Year," ranked first in medicine by Harvard Health, recognized with the Society for Clinical Trials (SCT) "Trial of the Year" award which was cited among the top ten awards by the Clinical Research Forum, received the Norman F. Gant Award from "People" magazine for "Best Research in Maternity Medicine," and resulted in over 60 publications in the New England Journal of Medicine. In terms of education and training, to help advance the field of biostatistics research, the center’s faculty actively engage in various educational and training programs including teaching at professional conferences, publishing educational manuscripts and books, hosting training programs for students and scientific collaborators, and providing mentorship opportunities.
