Basic Information
Hansen Medical, founded by Dr. Fred Moll in 2002, pioneered the field of flexible robotic technology. Hansen developed two robotic systems: the Magellan Robotic System and the Sensei Robotic System. The Magellan is designed for a variety of specialized peripheral vascular robotic procedures, while the Sensei is tailored for interventional electrophysiology procedures. Combining the Sensei Robotic System, Hansen created the Artisan Extend Control Catheter, an automatically manipulatable sheath designed to provide stability, reach, and contact force sensing when navigating third-party catheters during electrophysiology procedures. In 2016, Auris Health acquired Hansen Medical, incorporating a significant amount of robotic technology and patents into the Auris portfolio. Following the integration of Hansen, Auris Health launched the Monarch™ platform in March 2018, the first FDA-approved robotic platform for diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures. The Monarch platform is designed to enable physicians to diagnose hard-to-reach small peripheral lung nodules with unprecedented precision.
