In human diseases, the number of deaths caused by pathogenic microbial infections remains the highest. Due to the booming global tourism industry, increased resistance to anti-infective drugs, and potential bioterrorism attacks, this global public health threat is even on the rise. Meanwhile, the emergence of functional genomics technology allows for the rational and systematic breakdown of genes related to pathogenesis, thereby identifying new targets for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
