Enanta Pharmaceuticals is leveraging its robust chemistry-driven approach and drug discovery capabilities to become a leader in the discovery and development of small molecule drugs for viral infections and liver diseases. Enanta's research and development efforts are focused on the following disease targets: Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV), and SARS-CoV-2. Enanta's R&D activities are funded by royalties from HCV products developed in collaboration with AbbVie. Glecaprevir, a protease inhibitor discovered by Enanta, is currently marketed by AbbVie as a key drug for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection under the brand names MAVYRET® (U.S.) and MAVIRET® (ex-U.S.) (Glecaprevir/pibrentasvir). The company’s antibacterial focus areas include superbugs, respiratory infections, and both intravenous and oral treatments for hospital and community MRSA.
