Betagenon is a biotechnology company focused on the development of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator compounds for the treatment of chronic energy balance disorders in elderly and/or obese individuals with metabolic disorders. Drugs that activate AMPK are expected to have beneficial effects on metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, as well as certain cancers. Their lead AMPK activator compound, O304, is currently in Phase IIa clinical trials.
