DFA was founded in 2007 by a group of scientists and entrepreneurs who are committed to saving lives and alleviating disease in developing countries and other resource-poor settings through low-cost, innovative, and practical diagnostic devices. Improving human health across the developing world depends on the ability to rapidly and accurately diagnose patients at the point of care. Without accurate and affordable diagnostics, patients cannot receive appropriate treatment. In the case of infectious diseases, inadequate treatment can lead to remission, transmission, or drug-resistant strains.
