diaDexus is a privately held biotechnology company dedicated to the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel patented diagnostic products with high clinical value.The company's lead product, the PLAC Test, measures Lp-PLA2 (lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2), a vascular-specific inflammatory enzyme involved in the formation of plaques prone to rupture. Plaque rupture and thrombosis, rather than stenosis, cause the majority of cardiovascular events. The PLAC Test is the only FDA-approved blood test for assessing the risk of coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke associated with atherosclerosis.
