An international biotechnology company

Basic Information

Cytonet Group is an international biotechnology company with facilities in Weinheim, Germany, and Durham, North Carolina, USA. Cytonet, with 60 employees, develops and manufactures cell therapy products that can provide alternatives to treatment processes such as organ transplantation. To produce cellular medicinal products for the treatment of urea cycle disorders, cells from donated but non-transplantable livers are gently isolated and processed through a complex procedure developed by Cytonet. The managing directors are Dr. Wolfgang Rüdinger and Dipl.-Kfm. Michael J. Deissner. Cytonet was spun off from the Roche Group in April 2000, with the majority of shares owned by the Dietmar Hopp family. Research on hepatocyte therapy using SELICA is currently underway in Germany and the USA to treat congenital metabolic errors of the liver in newborns and infants.
