Cellphire

Cellphire has developed a patented method for stabilizing blood in a dry state. Current efforts and product development are focused on stabilizing platelets for advanced wound care, transfusions, and reagent products for clinical and research diagnostics. Cellphire has been able to stabilize and modify platelets into a hemostatic agent that can be stored beyond the current 5-day limit. Due to this extremely short shelf life, platelets cannot be stored and shortages occur. These shortages can disrupt treatments for cancer patients and actively bleeding surgical or trauma patients. The vulnerability of China's national platelet supply is a topic of discussion among several working groups and institutions planning the national response to pandemics such as avian influenza. This and other natural or man-made disasters can interrupt or exceed the platelet supply needed to maintain adequate reserves or treat bleeding casualties.
