Catalyst OrthoScience Aims to Develop Innovative Medical Solutions to Make Orthopedic Surgeries Less Invasive and More Effective for Both Surgeons and Patients. Catalyst OrthoScience, founded by a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is composed of a team of biomedical industry professionals with over 100 years of combined medical device experience.The Catalyst CSR Total Shoulder System was conceived from the visionary approach of research-trained orthopedic surgeon and shoulder specialist Steven Goldberg, who designed the next generation of highly precise, minimally invasive total shoulder solutions through an extremely simplified method of implant placement.The key design elements of this new system are: 1) preserving as much of the patient's bone as possible; 2) creating implants that better mimic the natural oval shape of the human shoulder; 3) providing a system that significantly improves the consistency and repeatability of procedures for patients.In 2011, Dr. Goldberg began developing revolutionary implants with a new shape and created prototypes using 3D printing services. With two U.S. provisional patents and positive feedback from several renowned shoulder experts, the Catalyst CSR Total Shoulder System was born.
