Cardiomedics

Cardiomedics is a pioneer in the field of External Counterpulsation (ECP) and a leader in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiomedics, Inc., established in 1986, traces its roots back to Harvard and MIT, becoming the first company to develop, manufacture, and market a portable sequential External Counterpulsation (ECP) system (CardiAssist). Cardiomedics, Inc. also became the first ECP company to publish clinical studies in peer-reviewed cardiology journals, showing that ECP significantly reduces the annual mortality rate of congestive heart failure patients (Class II, III, IV) to less than 2%, while decreasing rehospitalization rates by over 85%. Similarly, Cardiomedics, Inc. was the first to introduce a 4-8 minute submaximal cardiopulmonary exercise test (CardiAssess CPD) for cardiovascular risk diagnosis and treatment. CardiAssess is a non-invasive method to track physiological changes in patients, useful for initial diagnosis and monitoring the efficacy of any medical treatment received.
