Basic Information
Cambridge Display Technology develops and commercializes polymer organic light-emitting diodes. CDT has developed polymer organic light-emitting diodes (referred to as P-OLED or PLED), which can be used to replace cathode ray tubes, standard LEDs, and display components in mobile phones, digital audio players, and other applications. The company was founded in 1992 by the University of Cambridge and seed venture capital firms to develop research on organic electroluminescence traceable to polymers conducted by Professor Richard Friend of the Cavendish Laboratory as early as 1989.
