Cadence Biomedical, headquartered in Seattle, Washington, is an early-stage medical device company dedicated to helping 2.3 million Americans suffering from severe mobility impairments achieve a more mobile and independent lifestyle. The company is currently developing a novel device, a kinetic orthosis, based on an innovative external technology invented by world-renowned researcher Dr. AJ van den Bogert at the Cleveland Clinic. In August 2010 (as Empowering Engineering Technologies, Corp.), Cadence completed its first round of funding and signed a permanent global exclusive licensing agreement with the Cleveland Clinic to develop and commercialize the technology. The market launch for the kinetic orthosis is anticipated for early 2012.
