Currently, the company is working on a novel drug that prevents inflammation by blocking BH4 and its spread in human nerve cells. BH4 (tetrahydrobiopterin, tetrahydrobiopterin) is a chemical substance produced after bodily injury. By analyzing human genetic data, Quartet discovered that approximately 2% of individuals naturally have lower levels of BH4, and these individuals tend to experience fewer chronic pain conditions. Based on this finding, the company has designed several small-molecule drug candidates that aim to alleviate pain and inflammation in 98% of the population by blocking BH4.
