Basic Information
XACT Robotics is developing a robotic technology platform for needle steering during minimally invasive interventional procedures, such as biopsies and ablations. The technology is based on a novel approach utilizing a five degrees-of-freedom robot for needle steering, with ongoing needle path calculations and real-time closed-loop control.XACT Robotics' technology can actively compensate for breathing and patient movement during procedures, enabling rapid, accurate, and safe needle insertion to the desired target. The combination of real-time closed-loop control with complex angular 3D trajectories allows for immediate detection and correction of minor deviations from the original planned path without needing to reinsert the needle or reposition the patient.XACT Robotics' technology can be used with various imaging systems in the image-guided and robot-assisted surgery market, applicable across a wide range of applications, procedures, and target organs. To meet the growing demand for new technologies assisting CT-guided procedures, XACT Robotics is initially developing a system that includes a robot mounted on the patient, a control unit connected to the CT and the robot, and a workstation for procedure planning and control.
