LightIntegra

LightIntegra Technology is a privately-owned medical diagnostics company founded through the efforts of Dr. Elisabeth Maurer, a research scientist at Canadian Blood Services' R&D labs. LightIntegra is dedicated to minimizing platelet refractoriness. To this end, LightIntegra developed ThromboLUX, a rapid in vitro test that provides size distribution information of particles in blood products. As a routine test for platelet concentrates, ThromboLUX identifies which platelet units are best suited for prophylaxis and which are better suited for treatment. Her years of research on platelet function led to a breakthrough discovery that uses dynamic light scattering to characterize platelets.
