The semiconductor capital equipment market consists of three main segments: wafer processing equipment, assembly and packaging equipment, and testing equipment. The company is primarily active in the wafer processing and assembly and packaging segments. Wafer processing is known as the "front-end," while assembly and packaging are referred to as the "back-end." The company also sells lead frames for semiconductor assembly. Additionally, in 2011, the company acquired a surface mount technology business, providing SMT placement solutions for the global electronics manufacturing industry.The company was incorporated on March 4, 1968, in Nevada and is a Dutch public limited liability company, formerly known as Advanced Semiconductor Materials International NV.
