BrainsGate, Ltd was founded in 2000 and is a medical device company dedicated to developing innovative therapies for patients with central nervous system (CNS) disorders. BrainsGate’s platform technology involves electrical stimulation of the Spheno-Palatine Ganglion (SPG), a neural center known to increase cerebral blood flow. BrainsGate is exploring several applications of its technology and is currently focusing on the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. In 2008, the company completed ImPACT-1, an investigational clinical trial for acute ischemic stroke, with satisfactory results. In 2011, the company completed a pivotal RCT involving 300 patients, further confirming the safety and efficacy of its treatment for acute ischemic stroke patients.
