Basic Information

The Biophysical Society was founded in 1957 to encourage the development and dissemination of knowledge in biophysics. It achieves this goal through many programs, including conferences, publications, and committee outreach activities. The society now has over 8,000 members who work in academic institutions, industries, and government agencies around the world. The society holds an annual meeting that brings together more than 6,000 research scientists representing the multidisciplinary fields of biophysics. This annual meeting is the largest gathering of biophysicists globally, featuring over 4,000 poster presentations, more than 200 exhibits, and over 20 symposia.
