Siemens, founded in 1847, is one of the largest medical equipment suppliers globally, with operations in over 200 countries. In 2016, it accounted for 10.4% of the global in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry. The rapid development of the company's IVD product line began in 2006 when it acquired DPC for 1.5 billion euros, incorporating the Immulite series for immunoassay diagnostics. Subsequent acquisitions of Bayer and Dade Behring completed its range in biochemistry, immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, and POCT, making Siemens the company with the most comprehensive IVD product line globally.
