BME's first product is an innovative dialysis needle (BME needle), which reduces patient complications caused by hemodialysis, thereby increasing the revenue of dialysis clinics and reducing costs for medical insurance companies. The BME needle addresses the number one issue plaguing dialysis clinics, dialysis patients, and insurance companies — clotting and occlusion of vascular access. Additionally, the BME needle reduces inflammation and oxidative stress, which also decreases the occurrence of medical complications. The company is raising funds to commercialize the needle and is in the process of obtaining government approval for commercialization. The company has received approximately $1 million in grants from the United States.
