Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is the lead center for non-surgical cancer treatment in western Scotland. The center serves a population of 2.6 million and has established clinical links with 16 hospitals in Glasgow and other health board areas. Beatson is the largest cancer center in Scotland and the second largest in the UK. As such, the workload is diverse: each year, the Beatson team sees over 8,000 new patients, administers more than 20,000 courses of chemotherapy, and delivers approximately 6,500 courses of radiotherapy. Waiting times for radical treatments are among the lowest in the UK. Beatson is an internationally recognized teaching center, comprising academic units in medical oncology, radiation oncology, translational research, and palliative care.
