Apofore Corp is developing a novel approach to treating type 2 diabetes based on a naturally occurring protein, apo A-IV. The company’s approach is based on discoveries made by its scientific founder, Dr. Patrick Tso, at the University of Cincinnati, which identified apo A-IV as an important regulator of insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis. Recombinant apo A-IV, the company’s lead therapeutic, is in preclinical development.
