Asterias Biotherapeutics, Inc. is a development-stage biotechnology company focused on developing therapeutic products for neurology, oncology, cardiology, metabolic diseases, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and hematological and vascular diseases. It is also developing human embryonic stem cell programs, including cell lines and Phase I clinical trials for patients with acute spinal cord injuries; intellectual property related to its autologous cell immunotherapy program, including Phase I/II clinical trials for autologous immune therapy in patients with acute myeloid leukemia; and non-therapeutic applications of pluripotent stem cells, such as cell assay products for drug development and toxicity screening.
