Fauna Bio, Inc. was founded in 2018 and is dedicated to translating animal research findings into therapies for human diseases. The company is the developer of a cross-mammalian drug discovery platform, designed to help humans recover from severe conditions such as heart disease and neurodegenerative disorders. Fauna Bio's drug discovery platform leverages a range of species data including animal genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics to identify new drug targets and develop treatments for various human disease indications, enabling the treatment of serious human illnesses. Currently, the team has completed sequencing of its internal biobank’s whole genome, RNA, proteins, metabolomics, and epigenetics. They have also integrated publicly available data from various species to prioritize therapeutic targets.Fauna Bio's drug discovery platform currently focuses on hibernating mammals. Hibernating animals possess natural adaptive abilities that can provide insights into critical human diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, osteoporosis, obesity/diabetes, and traumatic injuries. However, there is currently no systematic gene network that accounts for the protective and healing properties exhibited by hibernating animals.
