Basic Information
Candel Therapeutics is a privately held biopharmaceutical company located in the Boston area, dedicated to saving, extending, and improving the lives of cancer patients and their families through the development and commercialization of innovative and personalized cancer immunotherapies. At the forefront of these efforts is our proprietary Gene Mediated Cytotoxic Immunotherapy™ (GMCI™), a platform technology designed to stimulate the patient’s immune system to naturally fight their cancer. GMCI™ is a novel and versatile technology applicable to a wide range of solid tumors. It is based on a relatively low-cost and readily available "off-the-shelf" viral vector product (aglatimagene besadenovec; also known as AdV-tk), which generates a robust patient-specific anti-tumor immune response in vivo. Our mission is to save, extend, and improve the lives of cancer patients. Candel Therapeutics has conducted GMCI™ clinical cancer research in prostate cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, and pancreatic cancer, achieving significant clinical outcomes to date. Additionally, we are investigating the potential use of GMCI™ in other solid tumor indications.
