BillionToOne Develops Non-Invasive Alternative, Launches New Product UNITY for Non-Invasive Genetic Disease DetectionAs the fetus develops, a small number of fetal cells die, releasing their DNA molecules into the maternal bloodstream. UNITY draws venous blood from the mother, accurately quantifying the cell-free DNA (extracellular DNA in a cell-free state) in the blood. Based on the quantity of cell-free DNA, it determines whether the fetus has genetic diseases. Compared to traditional methods, UNITY not only reduces sequencing costs but also improves resolution more than a thousandfold, enabling the detection of monogenic disorders such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, spinal muscular atrophy, and thalassemia.
