Cytena GmbH has developed a device called cy-Clone, used for isolating single cells. The development of the most advanced drugs, known as biologics, as well as single-cell genetic analysis in cancer and stem cell research, requires single cells. cy-Clone is supported by an automated imaging process that encapsulates cells within droplets, which can be transferred to any type of substrate. Due to this particularly gentle delivery method, the cells are able to survive after printing and can either be analyzed post-print or grown into clonal colonies. To determine clonality, multiple images are recorded during this process. The use of disposable components helps avoid cross-contamination.
