GreenMark Biomedical Inc., a minimally invasive healthcare company based in Michigan, has collaborated with partners at the University of Michigan to develop LumiCare™ Caries Detection Rinse, an aqueous oral rinse that uses proprietary nanoparticles to illuminate early caries lesions on teeth using a simple dental curing light. It aims to transform the dental experience by enabling dentists to accurately assess when treatment is needed and make painless natural repair possible. LumiCare™ Caries Detection Rinse will be used during routine dental examinations to illuminate otherwise undetectable early-stage cavities with standard dental curing lights. The company is developing technology involving biopolymer nanoparticles produced from natural starch. Given that starch is degraded by natural enzymes in our bodies, starch nanoparticles are ideal carriers for dental and medical applications.
