Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Idenix) is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of drugs for the treatment of human viral diseases, with operations in the United States and Europe. The company's research and development focus is on treatments for hepatitis C virus (HCV). In July 2009, the company completed a proof-of-concept clinical trial for the treatment of treatment-naïve patients with HCV genotype I infection. In October 2009, it initiated a 14-day dose-ranging Phase IIa clinical trial to evaluate IDX184 in combination with pegylated interferon and ribavirin for the treatment of treatment-naïve patients with HCV genotype I infection. Idenix selected IDX320 as the lead clinical candidate in its protease inhibitor discovery program. The company is also developing products and candidates for the treatment of hepatitis B virus (HBV).
