Basic Information
NewStem Develops New Diagnostic Technology to Predict Chemotherapy Resistance in Patients, Enabling Better Targeted Cancer Treatment and Potentially Reducing Chemotherapy Resistance. Drug resistance is a major cause of failure in cancer chemotherapy and is currently only recognized after the first course of treatment. In nearly 50% of cancer cases, tumors already exhibit chemotherapy resistance before treatment begins. NewStem's diagnostic solution is based on research by Professor Nissim Benvenisty, Chief Scientific Officer of the Azrieli Center for Stem Cells and Genetic Research at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, on human haploid pluripotent stem cells (hHPSCs). NewStem owns the intellectual property, reagents, and expertise required for hHPSC isolation, differentiation, genetic manipulation, immunogenicity, and tumorigenicity.
