Basic Information

Inotek Pharmaceuticals is a privately held and funded biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of innovative drugs to address serious ocular diseases. Inotek’s scientists have identified a series of candidate drugs targeting inflammation, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and oxidative stress, which are key targets for treating glaucoma, ocular hypertension, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal neuropathy. The company's lead program, trabodenoson (INO-8875), is a highly selective adenosine mimetic that targets the A1 subreceptor. Trabodenoson introduces a novel and elegant mechanism of action for treating elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) associated with open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. This new approach to lowering IOP enhances the natural processes used by healthy eyes, allowing excess fluid to drain from the eye through the trabecular meshwork. If eventually approved by global health authorities, trabodenoson will become a valuable tool for ophthalmologists, usable either alone or in combination with any available glaucoma medication. The candidate has completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials in patients and is currently undergoing evaluation in a multi-dose, later-stage Phase 2 trial.
