Protagonist Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company utilizing a proprietary technology platform to discover and develop novel peptide-based therapies aimed at addressing significant unmet medical needs and transforming existing treatment paradigms for patients. The company currently has three clinical-stage products: 1) PTG-300, an injectable hepcidin mimetic peptide in development for the treatment of polycythemia vera and hereditary hemochromatosis, both indications are in Phase II clinical trials. 2) PTG-200, an orally administered gut-restricted interleukin-23 receptor-specific antagonist peptide, is under development for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, with Crohn’s disease as the initial indication. The company has entered into a global license and collaboration agreement with Janssen Biotech for the development of PTG-200. This candidate is currently in Phase II clinical trials. 3) PN-943, an oral, gut-restricted α-4-β-7 integrin-specific antagonist peptide, is being developed for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, with ulcerative colitis as the initial targeted indication.
