Acorda Therapeutics, Inc. (Acorda) is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to identifying, developing, and commercializing therapies to improve neurological function in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal cord injury (SCI), and other neurological disorders. The company’s first product to complete clinical development, Ampyra (dalfampridine), was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January 2010 as a treatment to improve walking in patients with MS. Ampyra is an extended-release tablet of dalfampridine (4-aminopyridine (4-AP)), formerly known as fampridine. Acorda's marketed product Zanaflex Capsules is an FDA-approved short-acting drug for the treatment of spasticity.
