DURECT Corporation is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering the development of epigenetic therapies targeting dysregulated DNA methylation to transform the treatment of serious and life-threatening diseases, including acute organ injury. DURECT’s lead candidate, Larsucosterol, binds to and inhibits the activity of DNA methyltransferase, an epigenetic enzyme found elevated in AH patients and associated with hypermethylation. Larsucosterol is in clinical development for the treatment of AH, for which the FDA has granted Fast Track and Breakthrough Therapy designations; MASH has also been explored.
