Basic Information

Incyte is a biopharmaceutical company primarily engaged in the discovery, development, and commercialization of proprietary small molecule drugs to address significant unmet medical needs. The company was established in Delaware in 1991. It began drug research and development in 2001, focusing mainly on oncology and inflammation. The company believes its expertise in medicinal chemistry, target selection, preclinical, and clinical stages enables efficient operations in these areas. Incyte has discovered a diverse, potent, selective, and orally bioavailable portfolio of JAK inhibitors, including both JAK1 and JAK2 inhibitors. Its most advanced compound, JAKAFI (a tyrosine protein kinase inhibitor), is an oral JAK inhibitor synthesized in 2005. In November 2011, it was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of intermediate or high-risk myelofibrosis (including early-stage myelofibrosis, post-polycythemia vera myelofibrosis, and post-essential thrombocythemia myelofibrosis).
