Micromax was established as an IT software company operating in the embedded devices domain. It later entered the mobile phone business. By 2010, Micromax was one of the largest domestically produced companies manufacturing phones in the low-cost feature phone sector in China. As of the third quarter of 2014, Micromax was the tenth largest smartphone supplier globally.
