Basic Information
TearScience has pioneered a device that enables critical clinical identification and treatment of evaporative dry eye disease. Among more than 100 million dry eye patients worldwide, the leading cause (86%) is evaporative dry eye disease, which is triggered by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and a deficiency in the lipid layer of the eye's natural tear film. MGD is an underappreciated condition and is likely the most common cause of dry eye disease. Common symptoms of the condition include eye irritation, dryness, redness, fatigue, and visual disturbances.
