YouTube is a video-sharing website created by three former PayPal employees (Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim).YouTube allows users to upload, view, and share videos. It uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including video clips, TV clips, music videos, and amateur content such as vlogs, short original videos, and educational videos.YouTube offers various video features. It also enables users to view its videos on web pages outside its site. Videos on the site can be played on iOS and Android platforms. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users can upload an unlimited number of videos. Videos deemed to contain potentially offensive content are only available to registered users who confirm they are at least 18 years old.Most of the content on YouTube is not uploaded by individuals but by media companies, including CBS, BBC, Vevo, Hulu, Haber, and other organizations that provide some of their content as part of the YouTube Partner Program. Partners from major film studios, record labels, online creators, viral stars, and millions of others have channels on YouTube. YouTube is primarily an ad-supported platform but also offers rental options for an increasing number of movies.YouTube's headquarters is located in San Bruno, California. The website is available in 76 language versions.In November 2006, YouTube was acquired by Google and now operates as a subsidiary of Google.
