OMEICOS Therapeutics GmbH, founded in 2013, is a spin-off from the Max Delbrueck Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin, Germany. OMEICOS Therapeutics is developing small molecule therapies for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and ophthalmic diseases. OMEICOS’ novel therapeutic approach is based on the discovery of natural metabolites of omega-3 fatty acids, which have powerful antiarrhythmic effects. Unlike all other antiarrhythmic drugs, OMEICOS’ compounds activate an endogenous cardiac protective signaling pathway, which not only stabilizes heart rhythm but also provides therapeutic benefits to diseased organs by preventing their electrical and structural remodeling.
