Alpha Tau Medical is an Israeli medical device company focused on the research, development, and commercialization of Alpha DaRT (Diffusing Alpha Emitters Radiation Therapy) for the treatment of solid cancers. Alpha DaRT delivers high-precision alpha radiation to all types of solid tumors. The treatment involves inserting radium-224-infused seeds into the tumor. As the radium decays, its short-lived progeny are released from the seeds, dispersing into the tumor and emitting high-energy alpha particles that destroy it. Since the alpha-emitting atoms do not significantly diffuse into healthy tissue, Alpha DaRT predominantly affects the tumor, thus preserving surrounding healthy tissue.
